Isn't it time you peeled away the sign of ageing?
A chemical peel improves the appearance of the skin. During the procedure, Professor MacKenzie carefully applies combinations of powerful solutions to the skin of the face, décolletage (neck and chest), or hands to remove dead skin cells. The solution penetrates the skin, causing dead skin cells to peel off. The new skin is smoother and more refined-looking. There are many types of chemical peel preparations, and the right preparation for you depends on your skin type and desired results. They can help with rough skin, dullness, pigmentation, wrinkle sand scarring.
We use 3 types of peel here at our clinic
OBAGI BLUE PEEL RADIANCE MEDI-LUXE
Prof MacKenzie uses the Obagi Blue Peel Radiance™ Medi-Luxe to improve overall skin quality, including hydration, skin plumping, evenness and lightening of pigmentation. A retinol peel with increase results.
This is a 20% salicylic acid peel with little downtime and mild peeling after around 3 days. A cocktail of patient-specific ingredients will be applied immediately after the peel, e.g. vitamin C serum, retinol and SPF50.
It is important to stop treatments with vitamin A products such as retinol or tretinoin, as well as alpha hydroxy or beta hydroxy acid treatments, at least three days prior to treatment, as this will cause excessive peeling. High factor SPF must also be used after the procedure.
As this is a light peel, the risk of complications is very low. Clients with an aspirin allergy cannot have this treatment. There is light flaking after a few days and you may be pink on the day of treatment. Most clients will have a course of three peels, 2-4 weeks apart.

TCA CROSS
TCA CROSS stands for:
Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) Chemical Reconstruction of Skin Scars (CROSS).
The treatment uses tiny drops of very high-concentration TCA, which is most effective for deep but narrow ‘ice-pick’ scars. The best results are achieved when combined with other acne scar treatments, such as microneedling and subcision.
There is downtime of at least one week, with redness up to several weeks.
WHAT TO EXPECT

This depends on the peel, BPR is hot for arountd 2 minutes and is very bearable with a fan. TCA CROSS creates tiny pinpricks of heat. The blue peel is more painful during the treatment, and will require oral pain relief.
COMFORT
BPR/retinol peel – mild peeling for a few days. TCA CROSS – small white scabs for a few days then pink for a few weeks. Blue peel -major peeling with at least 7-10 days downtime and tender prink skin for 2-3 weeks.
DOWNTIME
Full results seen at 3 months. Multiple treatments are required for the best results with BPR and TCA CROSS.
RESULTS
The blue peel is best repeated every 1-2 years.
Maintenance

Stage 1
Redness appears occasionally and is often triggered by hot drinks, spicy food, or exercise.

Stage 2
Redness becomes more consistent. Small visible blood vessels (telangiectasia) may appear.

Stage 3
Acne-like breakouts begin, without blackheads. Skin may feel sore or sensitive.

Stage 4
Skin may thicken, particularly around the nose (rhinophyma).

Stage 5
In rare cases, severe rosacea - called phymatous rosacea - can lead to the development of rhinophyma - a bulbous enlargement of the nose, most common in men. Rosacea can also be ocular when it is located on the eyelids, conjunctiva and cornea, manifesting itself as red, watery and very dry eyes.
